Topic: Excel file open in 2 locations

I want to open an Excel file in 2 or more locations in groove at the same time. The problem is when I save the files is saves as a copy now I have like 100 copies of the same file or almost the same file. I have been banging my head on my keyboard for 2 days now trying to figure this out so if anyone could help out that would be great. Thanks
Mike

Re: Excel file open in 2 locations

When Excel 2000 SR 1 opens, it opens about 15 spread
sheets and other files from all over the PC and network
drives. It looks like it's trying to open all the files
in some sort of a history. After it opens all that it
can stand you can close the ones you don't need and Excel
functions normally. I searched through the registry for
the names of some of these files and came up blank.

Re: Excel file open in 2 locations

most likely you have excel 2003 but are trying to open an excel 2007 file. With Office 2007, the file extensions changed. You need to install the compatibility patch to be able to open 2007 files

Re: Excel file open in 2 locations

This is not a bug. At some point, you must have chosen Window --> New Window from the menu. That creates a second view of the file. Since you saved it that way, it will reopen with both views.

To fix it, just close one of the views by clicking the X in the upper-right corner of the document (not the upper-right of the application window). This might be easier for you if you first choose Window --> Arrange so that both windows are visible at once. That will leave you with just one window. Now save the file and your problem will go away.

Re: Excel file open in 2 locations

I assume your question is just about connecting to the Excel file and retrieving records out of it. This further implies that you know how to connect to MySql database and do the database stuff (insert, delete, update ...etc). If this is the case then I recommend you read this article
