I tried several of the suggestions mentioned on this site and none worked for me. I regoogled the problem and found another site (techsailor.jujuya.com) that said to do this:
1. Go to Start --> Run
2. Type outlook.exe /resetnavpane and then press Enter
3. Run outlook again. It should be working fine

It worked instantly.

2

The Run command is what definitely worked.
This is the issue. I have Windows 7 and Outlook 2007.

Start
Run
Type 'resetnavpane
Hit Enter

This is the solution without a doubt.

3

The /resetnavpane did the trick for me! Thanks alot, guys!

4

Start/run:

outlook.exe

That fixed mine! Thanks.

Thank you all so much for posting the tips - this was driving me crazy.

As noted by someone else, on Vista/Windows 2008 (and probably Windows 7) it is located at:
C:\Users\{username}Microsoft\Outlook
NOTE: Replace {username}
sure sign is an Outlook.xml of 0 kb.

I deleted it and was back in Outlook.

Thansk again!

However the "Outlook.xml" was not 0, this was not working for me perfectly.

Cheers!

Finally!!  my "outlook.xml" in that files was 3kb and I took the chances, deleted it and Outlook opens for me!!

6

Thanks a lot! Renaming the outlook.xml file to something else has fixed my problem of outlook not starting because of invalid XML error.
