Follow the below steps when you get the error 0x800ccc79 :
Exchange Server 5.5 has an option to require credentials when connecting to the Internet Mail Service. Exchange 2000 also provides this option with SMTP.
1. Launch outlook express.
2. Click on the Tools on the menu bar and then click on the Accounts option.
3. Under the mail tab, click on the account you are using and then click on the Properties button.
4. Under the Server tab, check the option My server requires authentication.
